南スーダン

南スーダンに行っていたときは、人民の暫定政権に対する信頼が厚く 感じられたこと、金・オイルという天然資源の中でも金のなる木が豊富にあること、さらに土地が肥沃でメイズやサトウキビが豊富にとれていること、などをうけ、この国はすぐ発展するんだろうなぁとの印象をもっていました。

実際、まだCPA（Comprehensive Peace Agreement；包括的和平協定）から2年しか経っていないのに、既に中国などの資本が入ってガリガリ石油を採掘したし（←中国資本の石油採掘）、

インフラ整備も、遅々とはしているものの、それなりに進捗しているようだし。

が、帰国後、北部及び南部スーダンいずれにも足を運んだ友人と話す機会を得、
彼は全く違う印象をもっていることがわかった。
彼の話によれば、北部スーダン特にハルツーム周辺では、人民の間でも
南部に対する憎悪や嫌悪が感じられるほど殺気だっていたとのこと。

2009年実施予定の大統領選か、2010年の独立に関する国民投票までに再び紛争が勃発する可能性も否めないのでしょうか。しかし一方で、和平が崩れる可能性が多大にあった際に、UNHCR及び国際社会はVoluntary repatrationを支援するでしょうか。

一方的な独り言でした。

back in Nairobi after traveling around Isynya, Kaukuma (Kenya); Kapoeta, Chunkdun, Torit (Southern Sudan).

How rich S.Sudan was. it has fertile soil, amount of rain, green nature, oils and golds.People are retourning back from third counries like from Kakuma and DRC to rebuild their own country.Still, electroricities are limited in where i visited, and still conditions of roads are not very well though, i felt very much energy from the people. this country may experience very fast growth!

Chukdum

Jungle Jungle Jungle,

Ive been to Chukudum with 10 armed escort, 11 retournees, 2 staff from HCR and 3 staff from ADEO.

It took about 8 hours for 89 km because of the maddy maddy roads. it was JUNGLE!!!! on the way!!! Vehicles jumped, stuck , stuck, and stuck up several times. but Once arrived, it was suprising. This small village was juss alike "Togen-kyo", surrounded by mountains, amounts of mango trees, sunflowers, Nano-hana, meize, sugar....It seemed really fertile here.

I heard that this village was not much affected by the conflict because it was occupied by the gov froces. But then, why there are such a lot of returnees? They said that because of famine. During the dry season, the scenes will change a lot. Really?
